Hi.
Meet alt-rock's strangest storyteller. Armed with sugar-coated hooks and a penchant for breaking the fourth wall, Francy Planet has landed.
Based in London, Ontario—Planet soundtracks the heavy moments you feel you can't explain, with a precision that's both comic and brutal. His sound fuses 90s alt-rock charm with modern bubble grunge energy, delivering power chord therapy through clever self-awareness.
With production that sparkles like a Blockbuster membership card and choruses that hit like your favorite coming-of-age film, you'll hear echoes of Fountains of Wayne and Third Eye Blind getting cozy with modern acts like DURRY and Games We Play.
Follow-up single "On My Way to Somewhere Else" arrives July 18th, 2025 - a fire hose of feel-good energy that turns a broken-down van into life's greatest detour. This windows-down anthem celebrates finding belonging in unexpected places, with breathtaking guitar solos and party-time gang vocals that prove sometimes the best destinations are the ones you never planned to reach.
2025 will see a steady stream of singles, culminating in something big this Fall.
Born François Goudreault to Francophone parents in Northern Ontario, Planet earned his nickname Francy after moving south as a kid. The 'Planet' part? "When you spend years trying not to take up space," he muses, "sometimes you need to shoot for something bigger than yourself." A lifelong person who stutters who finds freedom in melody, Planet discovered songwriting as a teenager and never looked back. "It was like finding a portal to a whole new world."
For many years, Planet fronted the award-winning Canadian synth-rock band Hello Kelly, appearing twice at Vans' Warped Tour and sharing stages with Switchfoot, Relient K and more. Following three releases for 7Spin Music (Sony BMG), the band released its farewell album Sweet Nostalgia in 2022 - garnering Planet "Producer/Engineer of the Year" at the Forest City London Music Awards.
